The person behind the course
I'm Carey. I've been in vet practice since I was 14 and qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2001. That's a long time watching how emergencies actually unfold — and how much difference it makes when the owner isn't panicking.
Most of the moments that scare dog owners aren't the dramatic ones. They're the ordinary ones. The limp. The odd lump. The upset stomach. The "is this normal, or is this serious?" — usually late at night, usually on your own.
Vets are brilliant, but you can't have one in your kitchen at midnight. What you can have is a clear head and a simple framework for what to check and what to do next. That's the whole point of Fur-st Aid.
I built the Essentials course for the owner I meet again and again — someone who loves their dog, wants to do right by them, and just wants to stop second-guessing. No jargon, no scare tactics. Just the honest, practical version of what a good vet nurse would tell you.
I'll even tell you the things people don't say out loud — like the fact that CPR on dogs rarely works, even in a clinical setting. You deserve the truth, not false comfort. That's the tone of everything here.

Not sure if the course is right for you, or just want to ask a first-aid question? Drop me a message and I'll get back to you myself. No hard sell, I’m a vet nurse, not a sales gu I'm happy to help either way.
